Description of Classes
Introductory to Level 1 Yoga
This class will introduce new students to the basic postures, breath work and relaxation techniques of yoga. The goal of Intro Yoga is for students to begin to enjoy the benefits of improved posture and mobility, strength and flexibility as well as reduced stress levels and sense of overall well-being. This class is recommended for those who are either new to yoga or who wish to continue to grow in the fundamentals of their yoga practice.
Open Yoga (all levels)
This is a joyful class that combines classic postures, flow, alignment, meditation and breath. Sessions often pursue a particular theme or idea with the goal of developing a deeper mind-body experience. Variations of poses are presented for all levels.
Relax and Renew (all levels)
Taking time out each day to relax and rejuvenate is essential to well being. This nurturing yoga practice focuses on restorative postures designed to gently stretch and rehabilitate the muscles and joints. Coupled with deep breath work, "Relax and Renew" soothes the nervous system and quiets the mind.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga (Level 1 and 2+)
For the experienced yogi, this popular evolving style of yoga is a breath inspired journey combining fluid movement and total body awareness. Each Vinyasa Flow class is an experience of cleansing the body and recharging it with vital energy using challenging backbends, standing poses, twists and inversions. This "meditation in motion" encourages the body and the mind to expand, develop and strengthen.
Anusara® Style Yoga (all levels)
Anusara® means, "flowing in the current of Grace". This fun, therapeutic yoga style emphasizes the importance of structural alignment. Anusara® style honors every student's unique abilities and limitations by offering modifications and variations of every pose. Safety is ensured with the correct use of props.
Move, Meditate and Manifest
Yoga means the union of mind, body and spirit. First you will learn physical yoga poses to create flexibility balance and strength. Next you will learn breathing and meditation skills that will help you decrease your symptoms of stress by quieting your mind. Studies have shown that heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure and stress hormones can all be decreased through regular meditation practice. And finally, implementing the natural laws of nature, Deepak Chopra style, will help you achieve your dreams and goals. It’s fun, easy, and open to all ages and fitness levels.
Pilates Mat Class (all levels)
This class is based on the system of exercises created by Joseph Pilates. The exercises emphasize smooth, continuous movement and proper breathing, and are designed to stretch and strengthen muscle without creating bulk. As several muscle groups are used for each exercise, muscles become toned quickly. Focus is on the Pilates Powerhouse, or the abdominal muscles, along with the buttocks, lower back and inner thighs. As Joseph Pilates said, “In 10 sessions you’ll feel the difference, in 20 sessions you’ll see the difference, and in 30 sessions you’ll have a different body.”
